The cables are manufactured and tested in compliance with IEC 60502 for power cables with extruded insulation and their accessories.
Rated voltages range from 1 kV (Um 1.2 kV) up to 30 kV (Um 36 kV).
Greatwall Cable can also supply XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) insulation cables based on other standards or customized specifications.
Conductors are typically Class 2 (compacted circular or standard circular conductors).
Materials: Copper or Aluminium.
Cables with rated voltages above 1.8/3 kV are supplied with a non-metallic conductor screen.
The screen consists of:
Semi-conducting tape, or
A layer of extruded semi-conducting compound, or
A combination of both.
Insulation is made of extruded cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).
For cables with rated voltages above 1.8/3 kV, the insulation screen consists of:
A non-metallic semi-conducting part (semi-conducting tape or extruded semi-conducting compound), and
A metallic layer (plain annealed copper tape, copper wire, lead alloy, or corrugated aluminum sheath upon request).
The extruded insulation screen is normally free strippable (easy to remove) but can be provided as bonded upon request.
A layer of PVC inner covering is applied under the armor if there is no screen.
If the metallic screening and armor are made of different metals, an extruded PVC separation sheath is provided to prevent galvanic corrosion.
Armor, if required, consists of:
A single layer of round wires, or
Double tapes of galvanized steel, aluminum, or other non-magnetic metals.
Single-core cables are armored with aluminum or other non-magnetic metals to avoid eddy current losses in AC circuits.
All cables are provided with an extruded PVC outer sheath, typically black-colored (Class ST2).
Other materials are available upon request, such as:
PE (polyethylene),
High flame or fire-retardant PVC, etc.
Multiple conductors are identified according to IEC 60502.
The following information is typically indicated on the outer sheath surface, but customization is available:
Voltage rating and cable area,
Manufacturer's name,
Year of manufacture,
Cable length,
Other details as required.
Compliance with IEC 60502 and other international standards.
Use of high-quality materials like XLPE insulation, copper/aluminum conductors, and PVC/PE sheathing.
Customizable options for insulation screens, armor, and outer sheath materials.
Clear and customizable cable markings for traceability and identification.
This specification ensures the cables are suitable for a wide range of applications, offering durability, safety, and performance in accordance with international standards.
